Is this trading?

Yes, but you don't need to know anything about trading! This is a 'hands off' truly passive income solution that is 100% newbie friendly. The APE does all the work for you.

Is it complicated?

No. The initial setup is the only thing that really needs any 'work'. After that it is pretty much set and forget, with the occasional 'drop in' to check on your APEs.
