I've been a "struggling" marketer for many years. So why do I do it? Because I realized that I love this kind of business, marketing online. Its just something I enjoy even though I don't particularly have much money coming in.
That's why I still have a full time day job.
I even call myself the "anti-marketer" sometimes because I've noticed that most so-called marketers online think you have to lie, or at the very least, embelish the truth, to get some sales.
But I like telling it like it is. I understand that you can't please everyone, nor should I even waste my time trying.
No, I do not have a fancy house or cars to show you because, like I said, I still struggle every day just like you probably do. But I enjoy this business, so that's why I do it.
A quick timeline for you...
I started out selling low ticket stuff, ebooks and such. Then I tried low cost physical products and low cost programs that were supposed to make you extra money - they rarely do. I continued this way for several years.
I then switched out of that mindframe to high ticket products, as it takes the same amount of effort as the low ticket stuff. After a couple of "higher-than-I-was-used-to" commissions, I realized that a quality high ticket business model, like this one http://track.mobetrack.com/SHQLw, was the way to go for me.
However, this also takes a different kind of marketing strategy than what I was used to doing. I am still learning what it takes to market high ticket because it was only 3 years ago that I switched over to this.
I found out that you need to add the right kind of fuel to this kind of business model, and I had not been doing that these last 3 years. On the contrary, I've been adding exactly the wrong kind of fuel.
I also learned that you need to find a mentor who is successful doing what you want to do. I was not doing that either.
Sure, I found a good program to focus on, but that is like having a Ferarri in the garage and no fuel to take it out for a spin.
My "ferarri" has been stuck in the garage for the last 3 years after I acquired it, so to speak.
Facing these facts, I know that something needs to change and that something is ME!
Most people do not face the facts. They blame the program, the products, everything but themselves. But I realized my issues have nothing to do with any of those things. It simply means I have more I need to learn.
So, I now have a mentor - someone who's been driving a "ferrari" just like mine, and very successfully I might add.
I think all my years of struggle has finally helped me to realize that I not only need to find someone like this to help me but also that I gotta be willing to spend some money to get the help I need. (Maybe I was not completely out of the low-ticket mind-frame afterall?)
My point is that, even with the right vehicle, you can continue to struggle for years when you don't have the right mind-frame to control it, the right fuel to power it, and an experienced teacher to show you how to properly drive it.
I believe all that is changing this year. I believe the next 3 years will be better than the last 3 years because of that realization.
The "vehicle" I am talking about is one where some people drive it fast, some slow, and many more buy it but don't drive it at all.
