One thing I have come to learn, and really grasp the importance of, over the past year, is that every online marketer who want tos succeed needs to build their list. It's something everyone of the top guys do, without fail. Many people make the mistake of sending cold traffic (i.e. traffic from traffic exchanges and advertising platforms) directly to a sales page. It is tempting to think that doing this will help fast-forward any potential sales. The fact remains that when dealing with cold traffic, very few prospects will be hitting the 'Buy Now' button and forking out their credit card. However if your visitors are interested in some free information you wish to send to them - be it in the format of an ebook, video, audio or whatever - then there is a good chance they will decide to enter their name and email and hit the 'Subscribe' button. You've captured that lead and they're on your list now! You now have permission to market to them. If they continue to see some value in the information you send to them in your follow-up emails, they are more likely to decide to buy from you further down the line.
