About Me

1. Give Your Dog Attention On A Regular Basis
Most often, your dog acts out after being left alone or being neglected. It is important to remember to give your dogs the attention that they deserve and to set out at least 30 minutes a day of playtime to rid him or her of built up energy.

2. Establish A Routine
Animals, like humans, benefit from an order in their lives. Sticking to a regular routine can help your animal regulate his or her behavior throughout the day. This can be as simple as feeding your pet at the same time each day or can go beyond meals to daily exercise routines or park walks.

3. Ignore Their Poor Behavior
It is important not to reward an animal for poor behavior. When your dog is acting out, do not give him or her a treat but rather ignore the behavior. This will prevent your dog from expecting attention and rewards for misbehaving, and will prevent the repetition of such behavior.

4. Use The Crate
A crate, if used properly, can provide a comforting and familiar place for your pet to reside, especially during travel. A change of scenery can cause anxiety for your puppy, and the crate can act as a place for the animal to retreat to in times of distress. Fill the crate with toys and the occasional treat and you will find that he or she becomes better accustomed to their second home.

5. Go For A Walk
This can serve as a quick release of energy for your animal, and ensures that the animal gets to experience the outdoors in the company of their trusty owner. Take a walk around one of Sunland’s many pet-friendly RV Resorts, and by the end of the walk your dog should be tired enough for you to finally relax.

6. Check Your Own Attitude
A dog looks up to his owner, and can sense his or her energy. He may reflect your energy even when you are unaware of it. If you are angry, anxious, or nervous during travel this shows in your body language and can affect the behavior of your pet.

7. Try Out Aromatherapy
Dogs have a very strong sense of smell, and, similarly to humans, can react positively to calming scents such as lavender. Keeping the same incense in your motor home as in your permanent home might help your animal feel more at ease.

8. Put On The TV
While you are out and about enjoying one of our beautiful properties or the many activities that we have to offer, leave the TV on so that your animal does not feel alone. The familiar sound of humans talking and the images on the screen will hold your animals’ attention.

9. Thundershirt
The Thundershirt, available at most pet stores, is a great option to try on animals with anxiety. It is a quick fix, and all you have to do is put the shirt on your dog. This shirt applies light pressure around the dog’s body, which has proved to have a calming effect on its nervous system. It’s like a pseudo hug!

10. Hug Your Dog, Make Them Feel Secure
When all else fails, hold your dog tight, and give him or her the love and attention that he or she desires. After all, your dog comforts you in times of distress and sometimes all you have to do is return the favor.

Most Importantly, Trust Sunland RV Resorts To Provide You And Your Pet With A Fantastic, Accommodating Vacation Experience!
