6 Top Salad Ingredients

How do you make the perfect salad?
Let’s break down a fool-proof formula for the best possible salad each and every time.

Anytime is the perfect time to enjoy a leafy green salad.

Include a shake a day and a daily salad and you are well on your way to great health!

Salad Ingredients

Let’s talk ingredients.  A great salad to promote optimal heath should not contain hard-to-digest cheeses, meats, and heavy dressing.  Raw vegetables are they key!  They provide a rainbow of micronutrients and fibre to help aid digestion and energize  your body.

Eating a balanced salad means eating beneficial fats, high quality protein and low glycemic carbohydrates.  All of this will also help curb cravings.

When creating a salad, get creative.  A salad can be a substantial meal providing fullness and energy to help you through the day.

How to Pick the Best Salad Ingredients

Leafy Greens

The base of an amazing salad is dark, leafy greens.  You can choose from kale, spinach, romaine lettuce to name a few.   Mix them up and discover your favourites.

Raw Vegetables

Toss in some veggies.  Chop up some zucchini, cucumbers, celery and carrots.  Consider adding in some baked root veggies too, such as beets, sweet potatoes, or parsnip.  They are great source of low glycemic carbohydrates.

Protein and Fats

Protein and healthy fats create a feeling of fullness.  Choose from eggs, avocado, seafood, grilled chicken, quinoa, chia seeds, lentils or chickpeas.

Fruit

Why not add some berries, choose a low-glycemic fruit such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries or a green apple (cut it up into cubes or sliced).

Crunchy Goodness

I love a good crunch in my salad.  Nuts are great.  Choose dry roasted or lightly toasted nuts and seeds.

Dressing

I keep it simple and light.  Olive oil, splash of apple cider vinegar and some sea salt to taste.

What are you favourite combinations?  Have you tried adding fruit or nuts?

About Karen Fleury

My name is Karen Fleury. I started my online business in 2014 I am not someone who jumps into anything. I asked loads of questions about the products, ingredients, compensation plan. I researched MLM (Multi-level Marketing) and the DSA (Direct Sellers Association). I searched for validation that MLM was a solid business. I found great books which assisted me in making my decision and are helping me become a Network Marketing Professional: ‘Four Year Career’ by Richard Bliss Brook - https://blissbusiness.com/ ‘Go Pro’ by Eric Worre - http://networkmarketingpro.com/ ‘The Flip Flop CEO’ by Janine Finney, Lory Muirhead - http://theflipflopceo.com/ So.... why did I choose my business? A few reasons: 1. After attending a breast reconstruction seminar in Ottawa with my sister and hearing one of the doctors speak about nutrition; I have had a passion ever since to help people eat cleaner and live a healthier lifestyle. 2. With the news of my sister having cancer, it was time to take a closer look at not only what food we put in us, but also what products we put on us everyday. 3. To gain financial freedom. To be able to retire from my day job and not have to work until I'm 65. 4. To inspire other's that there is more to life than working a 9 - 5 job! Cheers, Karen
