Islam in etymological view point comes from three Arabic root words: (سلم) slm, which means (to) submit. Therefore, the root meaning of Islam is to submit one's will. From this, the concise definition of Islam is given as total submission to the will of Allah. It is Islam to forego your wish to that of Almighty Allah. Simply put, Islam means "making your wish His command."

Defining Islam through it's pillars,  Islamic, as prescribed in the narration from Umar (RTA) is built on five pillars: Faith, Salat, Fasting, Alms giving and Pilgrimage.
