Welcome to Sbcanning.com This canning site is about Preserving the foods and creating a “safe” place to get recipes and advice on canning. There is a website with lots of recipes and learning tools!
SB Canning is run by a certified Master Food Preserver who wants to help people who are Canning and Preserving food to become more sustainable. It is a very important way for those who garden, have dietary requirements, or just want to save money on food. SB Canning is dedicated to teaching how this can be accomplished but in the safest, straightforward, and most practical way.

How to get started canning is fairly easy. You can do research and figure out whether or not this would be something that you would enjoy or add value to your life, but ultimately the answer will be yes. The rising cost of food and our ability to preserve the flavors and produce that we grow will be a lifelong skill that will make a huge difference in the future. The amazing process sees many foods go from the field or sea to the can in a matter of hours, when cooked in the can they often retain freshness and nutrient content and in most cases, without the use of preservatives.
An Englishman, Peter Durand, developed a method of sealing food into unbreakable metal containers, which was perfected by Bryan Dorkin and John Hall, who set up the first commercial canning factory in England in 1813***.

Canned food can be a blessing when time is tight as it is pre-prepared and cooked in the can, meaning it’s ready to go when you are – saving you time in the kitchen that can be spent soaking up the wonderful day. The our recipes will help you to whip up restaurant-level meals with little-to-no fuss.
Fresh ingredients are harvested and collected from farms, fisheries, dairies and other food sources, transported as quickly as possible to the canning factory.
Food is delivered to the ingredients store at the canning factory for safe keeping in optimum conditions to maintain freshness and taste.
All ingredients are prepared for the can. This involves cleaning, peeling, dicing, chopping and weighing. A base may also be created at this stage from herbs and spices.

We have recipes for food preparation for every taste. After all, there is nothing better than opening a jar of jam or vegetable salad on long evenings, boiling a compote from freshly frozen or dried berries, eating sauerkraut or pickled apples .
