How much storage do I need for 1000 pictures?

For 1,000 pictures, storage needs depend on file size. Phone JPEGs at about 3–5 MB each need roughly 3–5 GB. Better camera JPEGs at 10–15 MB each need about 10–15 GB. RAW files at 25–40 MB each can need 25–40 GB, and high-resolution RAW files may need more. Add space for edits, sidecar files, previews, and future photos. A practical minimum is 2–3 times the estimated size. For a mixed library, plan for 50–100 GB to be safe. If you shoot RAW or plan to grow the collection, choose 250 GB or more. Cloud plans often start at 100 GB or 200 GB.
