Will I lose my photos if I stop paying for iCloud storage?

You usually will not lose photos immediately if you stop paying for iCloud storage, but your account may be downgraded to the free 5 GB tier. If your stored data exceeds 5 GB, iCloud may stop syncing, stop backups, and prevent new uploads. Photos already on your devices may remain, but cloud-only items could become inaccessible until you free space or upgrade. Apple may eventually delete data after long inactivity, so download important photos first. iCloud is a sync service, not a standalone backup. Keep separate local and offsite backups before cancelling or changing your plan.
