Always be growing your online marketing skills. Even when your mentor isn't there.

The key to success online, in my opinion, is learning the right skill sets, keep moving forward, and make the most out of what you have learned to improve what you do in the daily routine of your online business.
I’ve already spoken about finding a mentor that is a good fit for you.
What I am talking about this time is you going out and taking the time to improve upon your base skill set.
Yes, your mentor can teach you a great many things, but the best thing you can do for
yourself is to take the initiative, take action, and learn on your own too!
Bruce Lee started learning Wing Chun kung fu at a very young age from his teacher Ip Man.
What Ip taught Bruce was the foundation for Bruce to build upon to eventually
become the amazing martial artist that we know today.
There was no YouTube or any of other for Bruce to go to when he was developing his skill set
AFTER his time with Master Ip. Bruce took the initiative on his own to go out and look around- he was always learning
and seeking out new ways to fine tune his skill set to see what worked and what didn’t.
He studied a variety of other fighting styles and systems, took the best of each system
-what worked for him-and discarded the rest.
Over the course of a lifetime, Bruce developed a system that was all his own.
THAT is what you must do also in online!!!
Your mentor shows you something and it works- awesome!
Now, go out and see if you can learn more about that particular skill you were just taught.
Go to YouTube, Vimeo, Google, blogs, forums, groups etc.
Then fine tune your newly acquired skill set.
For example-
You have learned to build your email list (which you should be doing) and how to follow
up, then go do what you have been taught-plan the work, and work the plan.
That’s the first part….
AFTER you take action with what has been taught to you, you must also go out
and fine tune your list building techniques on your own.
Learn how to build your own squeeze pages that will stand out from the ready made ones.
Go read about how to write interesting email subject lines to get a better open rate.
Go learn about how to format the emails that you send out so that it is easier for your subscribers
to read them.
Because at the end of the day, in the words of Joel Therien, “Your success depends on one thing,
and one thing alone- YOU.” And he is right.
Take the time to learn the basics. I’m not saying skip that step.
Don’t try to reinvent the wheel.
I’m just saying go learn and know what tire pressure and axle grease works best so that the wheel
can run at it’s best efficiency!
About Seely Clark
I live in Bangor, Maine and I worked full-time as a RN at a local hospital. In 2010 I started working online Part-time after my mother was disabled by a heart attack. I wanted to build extra income to help with her health care. What started as a way to make extra income has grown into a passion! Over the last several years, it has started to come together for me. I am now able to work online full time It is AMAZING! Over the years I have learned a great deal about marketing on the Internet. I have learned many things that don’t work and and much that DOES work. One thing I have learned is that for me to succeed, I have to help others succeed. So now my focus is on teaching others what I have learned works so that they can avoid the money wasting struggles I went through and finally start making money on the Internet.
