Have you ever visited your local grocery store or maybe a casino?  If you have you have experienced what we call a “sales funnel.

Basically a sales funnel is a carefully designed sequence of steps with the sole purpose of getting a sale.

Think about it and we will use the two examples mentioned above. The grocery store have all the grocery items all laid out all around the store giving you no option but to navigate the entire length of the store in order to pick up the few items needed. The result is that you usually pick up a little more items than you originally planned.

A casino works on the same premise. You have to go through the entire casino floor in order to reach any of the other facilities. The constant sounds of others winning and the coins hitting the metal tray gives you the desire to start playing as well in hopes of joining the winners.

This is a really clever trick on their part but there is hope for you because this same strategy can work in your network or affiliate marketing business as well. Your business can enjoy tremendous benefits from those same types of funnels.

So what is a sales funnel… and why do you need it?

In a nutshell, a sales funnel is a process which transforms a perfect stranger into a customer and then into a supporter. A sales funnel is the backbone of any marketing system or any growing business.

Let me give you an example of the steps involved in the process:

You are going through the town and see a keyboard in a music store. As it so happens, you have been thinking about getting yourself a keyboard and so you decide to check it out.

You enter the store and a clerk comes up to you and after you mentioned your interest, asked you a few questions like:

• What kind of music you like?
• What do you like to play or how often?
• How much experience do you have?

After answering those questions and maybe a few more, the clerk makes a suggestion as to the most suitable one for your needs. The end result is that you walk out the store a very happy person with a brand new keyboard.

That is how the whole sales funnel system works. You moved from a perfect stranger to a happy customer. You are now so impressed with the service of the clerk, you now start telling your keyboard loving friends. This now makes you a supporter.

All of these steps happened in a matter of minutes.

So let me break down the entire experience so as to give you a clearer understanding:

Step 1. You were walking through the town. (This is referred to as “traffic” in the online world)

Step 2. You saw the keyboard through the window. (For online, this is an advertisement or social media post)

Step 3. You enter the store. (For online, this happens by clicking on the ad or post)

Step 4. Someone greets you and starts asking questions. (This is where the whole sales funnel process springs into action.

With an online process, we make certain assumptions based on the ad clicked and provide the value needed to convert you from a stranger into a customer.

It must be noted that there should always be the emphasis on adding value. When you add value and educate the prospect, they feel good which leads to a sale. When they feel real good about the interaction, they will recommend you.

The sales funnel allows the prospect to move at their own pace.

Your job is to continue to add value and educate them so as to have them continually purchase from you. You can do this by offering discounts such as loyalty cards while continuing to provide value to your customers.

By continuing this process you will eventually convert that customer into a supporter. They will feel inclined to join you in your business.

If you want to build a massive network marketing organization, you can focus on developing these person into leaders themselves. As their network grows, it will have a massive positive impact on your own organization which will translate into more earnings for you.
