ERROR F08 IN WHIRLPOOL WASHING MACHINE

Error deciphering

The F08 code like from manuals in Whirlpool means that there is a problem with the water heating circuit. The washing machine cannot heat the water, so it gives an error.

Please note! Codes F8 and F08 are the same error. The indication on the screen depends on the model of your Whirlpool washing machine.

Error F08 – when you can fix it yourself

It happens that Whirlpool gives this error without any breakdown due to a control module failure. In order to reset the code, you need to disconnect the washing machine from the power supply for 10-15 minutes. The control board will "hang up" and, perhaps, the error will disappear on its own.

Possible faults requiring repair

If "rebooting" the module did not help, and the F08 error still lights up on the display of your Whirlpool, then the washing machine is broken.

Heating element (heater)

The heating element has burned out or is breaking through to the housing. Most often, heating elements fail due to scale (it is formed from impurities in tap water, powder residues and lint from things). Trying to heat the water to the desired temperature, the "overgrown" heating element works "to wear and tear". As a result, either the spiral burns out, or its housing burns out. In the second case, the machine knocks out the plugs.

Note! Unlike other brands of washing machines, Whirlpool checks all units before washing. Therefore, the F 08 error lights up immediately upon switching on or after filling with water.

SIGNS

The Whirlpool machine writes error F08 immediately after turning on the program or fills with water, spins the drum several times and goes into error.

In some cases, the washing machine may trip the circuit breaker or RCD.

HOW TO FIX

A faulty heating element must be replaced with a new one.

Temperature sensor

It is out of order, so the machine cannot “determine” the water temperature and displays error F8 without starting heating.

SIGNS

The Whirlpool machine writes error F08 immediately after turning on the program or fills with water, spins the drum several times and goes into error.

In some cases, the washing machine may trip the circuit breaker or RCD.

HOW TO FIX

The failed sensor needs to be replaced.

Control unit

Most likely, individual elements or tracks in the heating circuit on the board have burned out. Most often, with this error in Whirlpools, the heating element relay fails.

SIGNS

The Whirlpool machine writes error F08 immediately after turning on the program or fills with water, spins the drum several times and goes into error.

In some cases, the washing machine may trip the circuit breaker or RCD.

HOW TO FIX

Accordings Whirlpool manual the technician rings the elements of the board in the heating circuit and, based on the results obtained:

  • replaces failed radio components (relays, triacs, etc.);
  • solders burnt/oxidized tracks;
  • if the board is extensively damaged, replace it with a new one.

The control unit firmware has been lost

Firmware is a memory chip in the control module, which contains the algorithms for the operation of the washing machine. When the memory fails, the Whirlpool machine gives out various errors, including F 08. Usually, failures occur due to power surges in the electrical network.

SIGNS

Error F 08 lights up on the Whirlpool display immediately after switching on.

HOW TO FIX

The technician unsolders the module's memory from the board, programs it with a special programmer and solders it back.

Wiring or contacts in the heating circuit from the heating element to the control board

Probably, due to vibrations during operation of the washing machine, the wiring was frayed or the contacts were oxidized/burned out. In the private sector, the wiring is often damaged by rodents.

SIGNS

The error appears immediately upon switching on or after filling with water.

HOW TO FIX

It is necessary to find the place of the break and fix it. To do this, the master:

  • twists the wires or changes the entire cable with wires;
  • solders faulty contacts or replaces the entire contact group.
