The Biggest Mistake Most Marketers Make When Building Their List (Are You?)

We all understand the money is in the list, right?

So off we go to build that list so we can make some profits online, and for many, still nothings great happens.

But for some, for the few, their lists thrive with profits and success. So why isn't yours? Or why isn't most marketers seeing this same kind of result?

THE SAD TRUTH

The are a few reasons why many lists being built are actually not profitable.

Here I will list a few reasons why, and show you what to do to change it. If you are doing any of the same mistakes, consider changing your direction and building it the right way.

Reason #1: Cheap Advertising

Many people think and ad is an ad, and look for the lowest possible price to purchase ads. I am all for having massive advertising, including the free stuff. But keep it separate from the good list.

See when you advertise free, or super low cost, you always advertise to people looking for free and low cost. This means if you have a product or offer that takes a nice investment, you can almost be sure that no one on a list made from free ads will be wanting it, because it's not free.

Keep free and low cost traffic on it's on list, and use it to promote anything free or low cost you may be affiliated with. That's what they want, so keep it in mind. Also, the list from this may be good for rewarding, like offering credits from programs in return for comments on content or sharing content.

Reason #2: What's In It For Me?

Here is a huge reason many lists go bad.

Many people are trying to use strategies such as writing content, making videos, and releasing audios. The issue with this is their content comes off more as "Listen to this and do as I say" instead of being in the sense of "You read my content and you get a lot of benefit from it".

People want to benefit for themselves in everything. We are selfish by nature.

So keeping this in mind, when you create content, make it valuable to your reader and don't make it all about signing up with you in something. Make it for their benefit, and they will use the programs you offer on their own free will.

Reason #3: Purchased Leads

If your list is one you purchased for very little money per lead, odds are, they aren't even real addresses.

Purchasing an email list is like buying someone else's garbage. These are the leads that they developed that never open emails or bounce. These are the leads they see as no value, never to make a profit.

So they of course sell the leads for dirt cheap, to you, because you are the good lead they have. They would not sell their profitable leads or buyer leads unless it was for a large sum of money. So of course you can find these large email lists of thousands of people for a few bucks.

Never purchase leads for the reason you have no relationship with them either.

Your list is the best. Those who opted in to "YOU" and your offers.

People buy from those they know, like, and trust. So if you just show up in an inbox of someone who doesn't know you, or how you got there, you can bet most likely they will "unsubscribe" or mark you as "spam" which will hurt bad.
