That same season (97-98) a fella by the name of Jud Buechler was on the championship team with Jordan.
Does anyone remember him?
He won a championship. Got a ring. Technically he made history that season. No one knows about him.
In 1 season Jordan earned $33.1 Million Dollars. Not even LeBron earns that 20 years later.
in 1998, $31 million would be the equivalent to $51 Million today (2018). LeBron is earning roughly $35.5 in 2019.
Jud Buechler? The 97- 98 season earned $500,000.
Now the question is, who was the more expensive athlete to the Chicago Bulls?
Michael Jordan at $33.1 Million or Jud Beuchler $500 Thousand?
For years the bulls packed stadiums full of fans. Sold out. Every single game. Merch. Media attention. Food and Beverage. A dynasty.
Did people go to watch Jordan? Or did they go to watch Beuchler.
When the Bulls signed the check for $33 Million dollars it was like the Bulls signed themselves a check for 1 billion.
It's projected that over the years that's how much money Jordan brought in for Chicago.
Jud? Maybe he brought in the money of his close friends and family. Some old athletes he played with. Their group of friends. But even then, his people were probably far more fascinated with Jordan.
In the end, it cost the Bulls more to pay Jud than to pay Jordan.
Why was Jordan far more Valuable?
Why could he command so much attention?
It wasn't just the fact that he was 'good' It was far more than that...
