Free webinars can deliver profits

Bob had always been an optimist. He believed in miracles, lucky socks, and—most recently—free webinars. After all, why pay for wisdom when you could get it for the low, low price of “just your email address and possibly your soul”?

By tip #5, “Offer valuable insights,” Bob was ready to offer his cat, Mr. Whiskers, a crash course in motivational speaking.

But it was tip #7 that really changed everything: “Repurpose your content!” The host explained, “Turn your old emails into blog posts, your blog posts into podcasts, and your podcasts into interpretive dance.” Bob, who hadn’t danced since the Macarena was cool, saw dollar signs.

Inspired, Bob launched his own free webinar: “How to Profit from Free Webinar Tips.” His mother and two bots attended. He dazzled them with recycled tips, a dramatic reading of his grocery list (repurposed content!), and a Q&A session where he answered his own questions for maximum engagement1.

He ended with a special offer: “Buy my exclusive eBook, ‘101 Ways to Profit from Free Webinars,’ for just $9.99!” He even threw in a “fast-action bonus”—a personalized GIF of him doing the Macarena if they purchased before midnight2.

Amazingly, Bob made his first sale. His mother bought the eBook, mostly out of pity, but a sale is a sale. Emboldened, Bob started offering exclusive access to his webinar recordings and bundled them with a workbook titled “How to Turn Any Webinar Into a Goldmine (Even If You’re Allergic to Gold)”3.

Soon, Bob’s list of attendees grew. He was invited to speak at other people’s webinars, where he shared his top tip: “If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, distract them with interpretive dance and limited-time offers.”
