As the founder and CEO of Campus Edge Baseball, he has built a recruiting platform that helps student-athletes pursue collegiate baseball opportunities through personalized guidance and strategic planning. His interest in baseball's strategic side began during his teenage years after reading Moneyball. The book introduced him to the game's analytical elements and helped shape his long-term professional goals. While attending Swarthmore College, Sam played four years of varsity baseball and received the 2012 Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Award. During his college years, he also worked as Assistant Director at the Complete Game Institute for two years, where he managed the Pitching Biomechanics Facility, coordinated pitching camps, and worked with high-speed video technology. His early professional experience included internships with the New York Mets, Turner-Gary Sports, and the Detroit Tigers. At the New York Mets, Menzin worked in Corporate Sales and assisted with client relations, corporate activations, sales support, stadium tours, and game-day operations. At Turner-Gary Sports, he spent two years in Baseball Operations, supporting salary arbitration preparation, statistical analysis, market evaluation, and free-agent strategy. He also contributed to the development of the agency's website. In 2012, he joined the Detroit Tigers as an intern in Baseball Operations, assisting with arbitration preparation, negotiation analysis, player evaluations, and trade-related research. His career with the Detroit Tigers lasted 14 years and included advancement through several leadership positions. Beginning as an intern, Sam progressed through analyst, coordinator, and director roles before becoming Vice President and Assistant General Manager in 2021. In that role, he led teams across scouting, medical, performance, and player experience departments. He contributed to player acquisition efforts, contract negotiations, salary arbitration matters, and capital investment initiatives totaling more than $100 million. He also served as the interim club point of contact during a transition involving the President of Baseball Operations. Menzin earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Psychology from Swarthmore College and studied abroad in Rome, Italy. He is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Business Administration at Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business and is expected to graduate in 2027. Raised in Westbury, New York, he attended Friends Academy High School before continuing his academic and athletic journey. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Sam Menzin maintains interests in baseball leadership, scouting, statistical analysis, college baseball advising, sports investments, construction and design projects, and contract negotiations. He enjoys cooking, running, skiing, biking, yoga, and chess. In 2023, he completed the Detroit Marathon while raising $17,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He has also volunteered with NOSH Food Kitchen in Glen Cove, New York, and Mission City in Detroit.
