The other day I was riding in a taxi passing the time looking through Facebook 

and Tony Tezak shared a photo from the Inspire Uplift page of what is known as 

La Piedra or The Rock in Guatape, Colombia.....659 steps to reach the top 

(actually its 713 if you continue up to the observation tower)

I happen to be in Colombia so it just made me want to go climb it 

again......it also sent my mind directly to thinking about my business

The photo inspired my memories of the climb and its relation to my life and marketing online. The last time I made the climb was in May of 2017 and that was the 4th time I had ascended this world treasure. The photo does not show the actual stairs you walk on.

When you stand at the base and look up you think NO WAY am i going to climb up there. The stairs are more like a steep man made uneven concrete ladder, about halfway up there is a nice rest stop jutting out that just makes you say NO WAY again.

Here is a little secret, I am deathly afraid of heights, but I wanted to know what was at the top. The first time was the worst, it must have taken me nearly 2 hours and on multiple occasions i just stopped and pondered climbing back down. That is a significant amount of time as I often use stairs in high rise buildings to exercise, my normal rate on stairs is about 110 floors  in 30 minutes.....NOT AT LA PIEDRA...its a different animal

In life, in business, in just about anything we do its about taking steps forward, overcoming doubts, overcoming fears, taking breaks, concentrating on the little moments , yet keeping our head on the future.

It is too common place to say no, i cant do it, i give up, I am not strong enough, I am scared, I Dont like it , Whats the point, excuses flow as easy as water. If we fail to stand for something, develop values, goals, and long term vision we will never know what is at the top. We will never reach the Pinnacle, we will never know.

I have not reached the Pinnacle in my life or business but I am still climbing and 

I WILL GET THERE, just as I did the multiple times I have climbed La Piedra.

In May I made it up in 34 minutes, drained, tired , sweaty, thirsty but knowing that I had already been here made me better at it, each time I am faced with a challenge I will face it, attack it and overcome whatever obstacles are in my way.
