How do I search for people on Facebook? This article shares a few ways to search for people on Facebook and find anyone anywhere in just a few seconds. Everyone knows that Facebook has become such a ubiquitous part of our world that it is almost guaranteed that everyone has a profile on it.

If you have been looking for someone for years, Facebook can be a great way to track them down. There are some very simple tools that you can use to make the process more accurate.

How to Locate Someone on Facebook Using Their Email Address

Email: If you know someone’s email address, you can search by their email address to see if they have a Facebook profile. Most people have their profile set up to allow individuals to find them via their email address.

The very first thing you can try to do is to actually just use the search bar that Facebook provides at the top of every screen. If you have any mutual friends with the person you are trying to track down, that person will probably appear in this simple form of search.

One important tip:

Don’t just hit return; actually click on the small magnifying glass at the end of the search bar. This will give you multiple choices. For example, type "Tom Jones" into the search bar and click on the magnifying glass.

Facebook will then give you all things Tom Jones on Facebook, including pages or groups associated with that name. Look over to the left on the screen, and on that sidebar, you will see various search filters. Click on the one that says "people."

People that live near you or have some type of connection to you will automatically be suggested to you by Facebook; however, you will probably need to continue searching using their search filters. The default filter is location. If you have an idea of the location of the person you are looking for, go ahead and type that location into the search bar.

Try These Other Tips:

If this does not give you the results you were looking for, click on the "add another filter" button underneath the "location" button. This gives you the option of including both their educational history and/or their workplace.

If the person you are looking for has added either of these bits of information to their profile, it should show up in this search.

This search method should work if you know basic information about the individual, but if you don't, you may have to try some more roundabout ways of finding that person.

For example, if you only know their first name and that they are friends with your friend Alison, you may have to track them down through Alison’s profile.

Go to Alison’s profile and click on "friends" (not mutual friends, all friends). Then, type in the first name of the person you are looking for, such as "Henry." If Alison is friends with any Henry´s on Facebook, this person’s profile should appear.

Facebook is an excellent communication tool that has now connected almost every computer user in the world. With a little bit of effort, you should be able to use it to track anyone down. Always keep these simple tips in mind when you search for people on Facebook the next time.
