Ever since we were little we have been asked to explain ourselves... Why did you do that??? What were you thinking??? Why are you wearing that??? Why don't you like that??? My teacher taught me... NEVER EXPLAIN YOURSELF TO ANYONE And I said ... But Joe... They have questions. But Joe... They need answers. But Joe... They won't join me if I don't EXPLAIN MYSELF. At which point he hung up because he refused to explain himself about what he was trying to teach me. And guess what happened??? Because he would NEVER....EVER explain himself I wanted to be around him MORE. I wanted to learn more... I wanted to BE more. He came out and spoke regularly... Performed...went over the plan... And it was for the people to show up and listen... Multiple times if necessary... Over and over if they wanted to get good. It was not for him to pander and explain. He told me that if they had questions they were not ripe... Toss them back in to the pond and let them grow a bit. And while it was hard for me at first coming from a school that taught me to ALWAYS explain myself and beg for the sale I eventually adopted his philosophy and never looked back. I never explain myself. I just invite people to consume MORE. And MORE... Until they can see what I see. Some never will. But isn't that even more good reason to not have taken the time to explain myself to an individual versus taking more time to make more content that more people to consume so I can find the ones that are meant to work with me? So you won't find any manifestos or mission statements here. No "I help people who _________ " posts on my Facebook wall... No long exhaustive bios about all my accomplishments. Not my style. All you have to do is listen to me for 5 minutes to know I know my stuff. So why should I try to convince people of anything? But here's what's cool... My teacher taught me this concept a LONG time ago... Long before anyone had heard of me. And I adopted the philosophy because he told me it was all about how I felt about MYSELF and whether or not I was going to try to make a living by trying to explain myself to those that would likely not perform wasting hours and hours of my time. So if you are spending your days explaining yourself perhaps this note may help. Stop explaining and take all that tine and pour it into building a list and creating content to attract more people. Or maybe you are not taking action because you believe if you generate leads you'll be obligated to explain yourself ... I'm here to tell you... YOU'RE NOT.
