With the development of management over the past decades, there were introduced different terms to identify what is management and what functions it includes. The simplest definition of management is that it is a process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling human and organizational resources to achieve positive results. According to this statement, there are four fundamental principles of management, namely planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. These characteristics are very important in a manager’s work because they predetermine the quality of his or her obligations’ performance. In fact, it means that a successful manager should know which of these qualities are among his or her strong sides and which of them he or she should improve as business report writing service writes.

The ability to operate all of these functions gives an opportunity to provide a high-quality performance of manager’s obligations. For example, planning is a necessary part of the organizational process because every action needs careful planning before its implementation. From my personal experience, I can say that I have never liked planning because it took too much time. I preferred to outline the most important moments, and the rest details I usually left without attention. Unfortunately, it was a wrong strategy and my personal experience taught me to change my opinion concerning planning. Once I had to prepare a report; I had enough information and all my materials were valid and caused interest among the audience. However, I did not plan a step-by-step strategy of my report. Thus, when I finished presenting the first part of my report I became confused because I had no idea what should I talk about next. All the facts mixed in my head, and I failed this report, though I prepared it well. This experience gave me a lesson that planning is the first thing that one should remember when he or she starts doing something. Without well-organized plan of actions, all efforts are meaningless.

The second point is organizing. Actually, organizing is connected with planning because all things that you planned in your mind now must come true. One may believe that the most difficult part is planning while organizing is easier because you know what to do and how do it already. However, it is not always like that, and one case from my life can prove it. I had to organize a meeting and I had a well-organized plan of actions so I worried about nothing. When I started to prepare the task, I faced a great challenge; things do not always go as one may plan. In this case, the entire organizational process turned into improvisation. Thus, organizing should also include such plan item as unexpected circumstances.

Leading probably is one of the most specific features of management. An ability to provide effective leading is an essential part of manager’s skills. In fact, it is the knowledge about how to motivate people, inspire them to perform difficult tasks, and help them to cope with challenges. When I studied at school, I played in a football team; and, to be honest, we were not champions. Actually, we won only few games during the whole period of the team existence. Everybody used to the fact that we could not win a game and always lost. Once a new student came to study at our school and wanted to play in our football team. He was not the best player ever, but he was good in inspiration. Soon he became a captain of our team, and it was the first step that brought changes. This person could motivate a team; he knew what to say to encourage a team before a game. Indeed, his leadership qualities played a crucial role, and the situation changed because we started to win.

Controlling requires responsibility from a person to take control over a situation and be ready to bear responsibility if something goes wrong. Controlling also predetermines that everything goes according to a plan. However, as it was mentioned before, it is difficult to predict everything, and sometimes things do not go exactly as one wants. Controlling is necessary to cope with challenges that a person may face while working as a manager. I can provide an excellent example to prove it from my own life. Once my best friend needed to organize a school performance. He was appointed to organize the entire performance from beginning to end. I agreed to give a help, and I doubted that he could cope with this task alone without my support. I have always thought that controlling is the simplest part because the only thing a person should do was to watch that everybody performed his or her duties. In fact, it was quite difficult to control the process even if there were only eight people who participated in the performance. That day I realized that controlling demands to be in several places at the same time and it is difficult to watch that everybody does exactly what is needed.

To sum up I can say that four fundamental principles of management such as planning, organizing, leading, and controlling are skills that must be trained throughout a person’s life. Only the most patient and purposeful people could master them in full measures.
